Where is Home Slice North Loop?
Address: 501 E 53rd Street, Austin, TX 78751
Home Slice Pizza is located in the North Loop neighborhood. It’s nestled within the neighborhood which makes it cozy, just at the top of Hyde Park, and not too far from the “cool,” and adult friendly, part of North Loop that includes Foreign & Domestic, drink.well, Workhorse (great burger) and The Tigress, various second-hand shops and Breakaway Records. It’s all highly walkable (perhaps not in August)
Home Slice Pizza Review
On a scale of 1 to 5 toys, we give Southern Heights a 5 toy out of 5 toy rating. This is one of the most family and kid friendly restaurants in all of Austin – it’s got it all! From pizza to indoor and outdoor seating to its very own fenced in playground. We love this place and visit often! Pizza with playground = a winner.
As mentioned, this place is located right smack in the middle of a neighborhood which adds to the experience – just love a restaurant or brewery (or soccer stadium if you’re in Europe…:)) in a neighborhood. It has a to go section, so if you’re not into sitting down with the kid you have that option. The inside seating is retro and dark, the latter point being worthwhile during the summer heat. Outside seating exists under a covered patio and a portion of it is under the cover of trees. The wait for outdoor seating is never too bad, especially since you can order a beer and let the kid tumble around the awesome playground. We’ve actually never eaten inside, so are a bit unsure as to the wait times.
The pizza is the best in the city, in our view. You’ll notice a lot of out-of-towners from pizza meccas comment on the quality of the pie here. As for the menu of pies, they keep it pretty simply for you: there are 7 “Tried & True” options from the classic Margherita to a White Clam pizza. You can also make your own by selecting from roughly 25 toppings.
Need a drink with that pizza? Kids can gorge themselves on water…or the usual restaurant fare while mom and dad white and red wines, a fairly substantial cocktail list (Negroni Danza!) or the beer menu (not massive, but it works).
Playground! This is one of the primary reasons for Home Slice scoring so well as a kid friendly spot. It’s covered in artificial grass and features a hill for the kids to climb up, a tunnel to walk through (or jump off if they’re older) and what essentially looks like a plateau for more climbing.
