It’s been awhile since you got out of the city. Traffic, work, traffic, restaurant, traffic. It’s time to get out, drive some country backroads with the family in tow and check out the surrounding area. Now while there are plenty of adult friendly spots that include beer, wine and/or liquor (take an Uber, take a bus, get someone else to drive you out there), this one’s for the family. So, we’re erring on the side of parks, museums, restaurants, outdoors and other generally kid friendly things to do for your day trip outta Austin.
Fredericksburg
It’s out west, in the Hill Country. It’s small town Texas: cowboy boots, trucks with large tires and darkly tinted windows, it’s Main Street, it’s quaint, it’s antique shopping (if you dare) and it’s LBJ.

- Main Street – shops, restaurants, walking to de energize your offspring
