Nothing beats taking your kid out to eat and, to your excitement, seeing a playground where they can rumble around while you, ideally, kick back and nosh at your seat undisturbed. Truly blessed…on to it!
- Home Slice Pizza – North Loop – Central Austin – our absolute favorite! Located in the middle of Austin, so generally easy for all to get to, delicious pizza and a fantastic playground for the kids to climb on and through – 501 East 53rd Street, Austin, TX 78751
- Central Market – Central Austin – especially great on Sundays when they have a band come out. Hugo playground with lots of structures for the kids to jump on, in, run through, climb under. Large open field next to it as bonus for some unstructured play! Another spot that’s in the middle of town (be sure to check out our by Neighborhoods guide) – 4001 North Lamar, Austin, TX 78756
- Phil’s Icehouse – various locations – good burgers, Amy’s ice cream attached, solid playground. Our go-to is on Burnet Road – 5620 Burnet Road, Austin, TX 78756
- Hat Creek – Central Austin- substantial play structure, perhaps best suited for kids a bit older than 18 months – lots of climbing and the slide is steep – 5400 Burnet Road, Austin, TX 78756
- Brentwood Social House – Central Austin – indoor playroom and an outdoor playground, so you’re covered during summer or winter! Doubles as a coffeeshop as well, so you can grab food and a hot, or cold, caffeinated drink – 1601 West Koenig Lane, Austin, TX 78756
- Austin Pizza Garden – South Austin- full-sized playground outside by patio. Building itself is pretty cool as well: built in 1879, served as multiple businesses and…it’s haunted! 😉 – 6266 US-290, Austin, TX 78735
- Ski Shores Cafe – West Austin – monster play area, beautiful setting (on the water)
- Oddwood Brewing – alright, so it’s not 100% a restaurant, check the name, but it is a brewpub – has food, beer and video games – with a newly minted playground out back
More kid friendly restaurants with playgrounds are on the way. We’ve got a few more spots to visit and will have a write-up for you soon! In the meantime, pick a place, kick back and enjoy your food (or drink or coffee) while the kid(s) play.
